A 5 inch wide flashing will result in a 2 1 2 roof deck flange and 2 1 2 vertical wall flange. Flexible flashing tape seals the eave to the wall. Likewise a 10 wide flashing will result in a 5 inch wide roof deck flange and a 5 inch vertical flange.

4 inches should go up the house wall and 4 inches should go on top of the porch roof shingles. Step 6 make a 10 degree bend on the shingle edge of the flashing approximately 1 2 inch from the edge.
